Transumanesimo (o transumanismo): un movimento culturale che sostiene l’uso delle scoperte scientifiche e tecnologiche per aumentare le capacità fisiche e cognitive e migliorare quegli aspetti della condizione umana che sono considerati indesiderabili, come la malattia e l’invecchiamento, in vista anche di una possibile trasformazione post umana. Questo movimento viene spesso abbreviato con H+ o Hplus.
E’ dalle idee di questo movimento reale che nasce questa eccezionale web serie di fantascienza. Una web serie che alla fine della sua prima stagione ha già ricevuto diversi riconoscimenti, oltre a numerosissimi fan. Prodotta da Bryan Singer (regista dei film X-Men e X-Men 2, Superman Returns e produttore esecutico di House MD) e interpretata tra gli altri da Alexis Denisof (Wesley in Buffy ed Angel, Sandy Rivers in How I Met Your Mother), Sean Gunn (Kirk in Una Mamma Per Amica) e David Clyton Rogers (Ben Quimby in Jane By Design).
La serie si svolge in un futuro dove un terzo della popolazione della Terra ha impiantato direttamente nel proprio sistema nervoso un microchip chiamato H+ che connette la mente umana ad internet 24 ore su 24. L’impianto è stato creato da un’azienda di nome Hplus Nano Teoranta, un’azienta irlandese fondata con l’intendo di migliorare il settore sanitario grazie alla tecnologia. La storia comincia quando un virus infetta l’impianto H+ diffondendosi a livello globale. Gli episodi andranno avanti e indietro nel tempo e saranno ambientati in diverse location e con personaggi differenti che verranno usati per raccontare la storia.
H+: The Digital Series (often abbreviated as H+) is a web series produced by Bryan Singer and created by John Cabrera and Cosimo De Tommaso. The series, which touches on the subject of transhumanism, premiered on August 8, 2012 on YouTube with two episodes. Two new episodes were then released every week on Wednesdays until the season finale on January 16, 2013.
The series is based on a future where one-third of the world's population has an implanted computer, named H+, which connects the human mind to the Internet 24 hours a day. The implant was created by a company called Hplus Nano Teoranta, an Irish biotechnology company founded with the intent of improving the medical sector with technology. The story begins in medias res, depicting the effects of a virus which infects the H+ implant. Concurrent episodes go back and forward in time to different settings, and various characters' viewpoints are used to tell the story.
