Plot :

Britt Reid (Seth Rogen) is the irresponsible, 28-year-old slacker son of widower James Reid (Tom Wilkinson), publisher of the Daily Sentinel, a Los Angeles newspaper. Britt's attitude changes when James is found dead from an allergic reaction to a bee sting. After the funeral, Britt fires the staff aside from his maid, but later re-hires Kato (Jay Chou), James's mechanic and a skilled martial artist.
Britt and Kato get drunk together and, upon agreeing that they both hated James, visit the graveyard to cut the head off James's memorial statue. After they succeed, they rescue a nearby couple being mugged. When police mistake Britt and Kato themselves for criminals, Kato evades them in a car chase as he and Britt return to the mansion.
Britt convinces Kato they should become crime-fighters who pose as criminals in order to infiltrate real criminals, and to prevent enemies from using innocents against them. Kato develops a car outfitted with several gadgets and weapons, which they call the Black Beauty. Britt plans to capture Benjamin Chudnofsky (Christoph Waltz), a Russian mobster uniting the criminal families of Los Angeles under his command, and whom his father was trying to expose. Trama :

Britt Reid (Seth Rogen) è il figlio del miliardario James Reid (Tom Wilkinson), editore del celebre giornale di Los Angeles The Daily Sentinel. Britt è un playboy irresponsabile che spende il suo patrimonio in notti folli con gli amici ma il suo atteggiamento cambia quando suo padre viene trovato morto, a causa di una reazione allergica per shock anafilattico da puntura d'ape. Dopo il funerale Britt licenza tutto lo staff, fatta eccezione per la sua cameriera e Kato (Jay Chou), meccanico personale di James ed esperto di arti marziali.
Britt e Kato si ubriacano assieme e dopo aver concordato che entrambi odiavano James, decidono di recarsi sulla sua tomba e decapitare la statua in sua memoria, come rivicita; dopo il fatto, vedono una coppia che viene aggredita e assieme la salvano. Britt e Kato però vengono scambiati dalla polizia per i criminali ed inseguiti lungo le strade della città; Kato riesce a seminarli ed entrambi fanno ritorno alla villa di famiglia.
Britt qui cerca di convince Kato sul fatto di combattere il crimine mascherandosi loro stessi da criminali, per agevolare la loro infiltrazione nelle bande e per impedire ai loro nemici di usare degli innocenti contro di loro. Kato accetta e sviluppa con le sue doti una nuova vettura blindata, realizzata in policarbonio industriale, equipaggiata con numerose armi e aggeggi ipertecnologici, che chiamano la "Black Beauty", alias la Pantera Nera. Britt quindi pensa alla cattura di Benjamin Chudnofsky (Christoph Waltz), un noto mafioso russo armato di una letale pistola-doppietta che ha riunito sotto di se tutte le famiglie criminali di Los Angeles e che già suo padre aveva cercato di catturare, senza successo. Per attirare l'attenzione di Chudnofsky, Britt usa il Daily Sentinel pubblicando una serie di articoli su un fantomatico "criminale molto pericoloso", detto il Calabrone Verde, Green Hornet.
Britt decide di assumere Lenore Case (Cameron Diaz), una laureata in criminologia, come assistente e ricercatrice ed usa a sua insaputa...
