Plot :

Southland takes a "raw and authentic look" at Los Angeles and the lives of the LAPD officers who police it. The show's first season centers on the experiences and interactions of LAPD patrol officers and detectives, and is more a character-driven drama than a police procedural.

Among the characters are rookie Officer Ben Sherman and his training officer, John Cooper who, unknown to most of his colleagues, is homosexual; Detective Lydia Adams, who must balance work with the responsibility of living with her mother; Officer Chickie Brown, who aspires to be the first woman on the LAPD's elite SWAT team; and Detective Sammy Bryant, whose home life interferes with his working life.

Trama :

Dramma d'azione, racconta le quotidiane vicende lavorative e personali di alcuni agenti e detective della polizia di Los Angeles. Il giovane ed inesperto poliziotto Ben Sherman viene affiancato al veterano John Cooper, con il quale imparare a destreggiarsi e a sopravvivere tra i pericoli delle strade della città. I due agenti hanno modi differenti di approcciarsi alla vita e al lavoro, che spesso finiscono per metterli in conflitto. Alle loro vicende vengono affiancate quelle di altri membri dell'unità, come Lydia Adams che aspira a diventare la prima donna a far parte del reparto SWAT, il detective Sammy Bryant la cui vita privata ha ripercussioni su quella lavorativa e del tenebroso detective Nate Moretta.
