The Woman in Red is a 1984 romantic comedy film starring and directed by Gene Wilder, who wrote the script, adapting it from a 1976 French film.
It co-stars Charles Grodin, Gilda Radner, Joseph Bologna, Judith Ivey and Kelly LeBrock, and won an Academy Award for an original song performed by Stevie Wonder.
San Francisco ad man Teddy Pierce is amused by, then obsessed with, a beautiful woman whose red dress goes whooshing over her head from a gust of wind as she crosses a grate. Teddy is happily married to Didi, but he can't get this woman out of his mind.
Encouraged by his friends Buddy, Joe and Michael, he tries to ask her for a date but mistakenly phones Ms. Milner, a plain ad-agency employee who is flattered by his interest.
Teddy ultimately does become acquainted with the woman in red, a model named Charlotte, going horseback riding with her and even inviting her to a relative's party. He radically alters his wardrobe and begins using elaborate ruses to see Charlotte socially. Meanwhile, he incurs the wrath of Ms. Milner, whom he stands up.
Events come to a head in Charlotte's high-rise apartment, where she invites Teddy into her bed. He is thrilled until her airline pilot husband suddenly comes home. Teddy ends up on a ledge, where passersby below believe he is a potential suicide about to jump, all captured on live TV.
A subplot concerns Teddy's friends, one of whom is gay, another a philanderer whose wife throws him out.

La signora in rosso (The Woman in Red) è un film del 1984 diretto dal regista Gene Wilder.
Si tratta di una commedia brillante, remake del film francese Certi piccolissimi peccati (Un éléphant ça trompe énormément) di Yves Robert del 1976. Wilder firma la pellicola come regista oltre che come attore protagonista.
Il tema musicale I Just Called to Say I Love You, scritta ed interpretata da Stevie Wonder, ha fatto guadagnare al film un Premio Oscar ed un Golden Globe.
Teddy Pierce è un buon padre di famiglia che vive a San Francisco. Lavora come responsabile in uno studio pubblicitario affermato, e frequenta il tennis club con gli inseparabili amici di sempre. Una mattina, nel garage della propria azienda, Pierce s'imbatte in Charlotte, affascinante donna di rosso vestita: l'ultima modella scoperta dal suo superiore. La splendida giovane, non sapendo di essere osservata da Teddy, danza per qualche istante fatale sulla grata del ricircolo dell'aria, imitando la mitica Marilyn Monroe. L'effetto è immediato: Teddy comincia un corteggiamento al limite dell'assurdo, che lo porterà ad avere più grattacapi che altro, al punto che si ritroverà in accappatoio su di un cornicione al ventesimo piano di un palazzo del centro.
