La comparsa di un serial killer che scuoia giovani ragazze motiva Jack Crawford, dirigente dell'FBI, a cercare l'aiuto del dottor Hannibal Lecter, ex psichiatra e criminologo, detenuto da
oltre otto anni nel manicomio criminale di Baltimora, diretto dal dottor Chilton, con l'accusa di aver ucciso alcuni suoi pazienti e di averne divorato i corpi (Hannibal the Cannibal). Si
ritiene infatti che Lecter possa sapere molte cose sull'assassino, soprannominato "Buffalo Bill", ma poiché il dottor Lecter rifiuta ogni collaborazione il direttore dell'FBI decide di
assegnare alla promettente recluta Clarice Starling l'incarico di risolvere il caso sperando che la giovane donna riesca a persuadere il folle psichiatra. Clarice fissa un incontro con lui,
e viene messa in guardia sia da Crawford che da Chilton..................
Young FBI agent Clarice Starling is assigned to help find a missing woman to save her from a psychopathic serial killer who skins his victims. Clarice attempts to gain a better insight into
the twisted mind of the killer by talking to another psychopath Hannibal Lecter, who used to be a respected psychiatrist. FBI agent Jack Crawford believes that Lecter, who is also a very
