She meets Kevin, a cynical writer who finds her attractive, and that same week her flirtatious younger sister Tess comes to town. Jane silently watches George fall for Tess, a manipulative pretender. Worse, Jane may be called upon to plan their wedding. Meanwhile, Kevin tries to get Jane\'s attention and has an idea that may advance his career. Can Jane uncork her feelings?

Dopo ben 27 matrimoni nei quali ha dovuto rivestire il ruolo di damigella, Jane, si ritrova con un armadio pieno di vestiti ed ora, per l\'ennesima volta, dovrà vestire i panni del ruolo che ormai le appartiene... Jane sa di essere molto brava nel prendersi cura degli altri, ma sa anche che è meno brava a guardare dentro di sé. In una memorabile serata, Jane riesce a fare la spola tra due ricevimenti nuziali, uno a Manhattan e uno a Brooklyn, impresa che non sfugge all\'occhio attento di Kevin (James Marsden), un cronista che vuole sfruttare questa storia per fare carriera. Jane scopre che il cinismo di Kevin mette in discussione tutto ciò a cui lei tiene - vale a dire i matrimoni e il sacro vincolo del matrimonio. A complicare ulteriormente la vita un tempo perfetta e ordinata di Jane, c\'è l\'arrivo della sorella minore Tess (Malin Akerman) che conquista immediatamente il cuore del capo di Jane, George (Edward Burns) e che la recluta una volta ancora per aiutarla ad organizzare un altro matrimonio - quello tra lei e George - ma i sentimenti che Jane nutre per lui porteranno allo scoperto sconcertanti rivelazioni... e forse all\'inizio di una nuova vita.
