La storia narra della resurrezione del Conte Dracula, ucciso poco tempo addietro. Per farlo tornare in vita tre nobili in cerca di emozioni vogliono utilizzare il sangue raccolto sul luogo di morte, ma i tre uomini durante il rito si tirano indietro e uccidono il loro cerimoniere, Lord Courtley, servo di Dracula. La vendetta di Dracula (già risvegliato) coinvolge i tre uomini e i loro figli. Sarà uno di loro ad opporsi.
È una pellicola dell'orrore liberamente ispirata al personaggio di Dracula, senza però ricalcare il romanzo omonimo di Bram Stoker, ma piuttosto ponendosi come una delle possibili prosecuzioni della celebre storia. È uno dei numerosi film interpretati da Christopher Lee nel ruolo del conte Dracula.
