David Haller is a troubled young man diagnosed as schizophrenic, but after a strange encounter, he discovers special powers that will change his life forever.
Il 13 febbraio 2017, in contemporanea in 125 diversi paesi tra cui anche l'Italia, FOX lancia la nuova serie TV Legion, ispirata ad uno dei mutanti protagonisti dei fumetti Marvel. Lo show, partorito dalla mente di Noah Hawley (Fargo, la serie) e prodotto da Bryan Singer (X-Men: Apocalisse, X-Men: Giorni di un futuro passato), sarà direttamente collegato alle vicende narrate dalla saga cinematografica dedicata agli X-Men ma ambientato in un universo parallelo rispetto a quello in cui vivono i mutanti.
Nonostante il legame con i famosi personaggi Marvel, però, lo show televisivo non presenterà alcun crossover con il franchise visto sul grande schermo.
Fin dalla sua infanzia David Haller (Dan Stevens conosciuto in Downton Abbey) ha imparato a fare i conti con voci e visioni che lo hanno tormentato per diversi anni, costringendolo a vivere recluso in un'ospedale psichiatrico sotto rigido controllo medico.
All'alba dei suoi 30 anni, David scopre che le voci nella sua testa sono reali, esistono davvero. Ognuna di tali voci è parte di David e rappresenta una personalità: all'interno del suo cervello ci sono molteplici personalità e ciascuna di esse è in grado di controllare un potere specifico.
E spesso devastante.
Questa situazione rende David uno dei più potenti - e pericolosi - mutanti esistenti al mondo: i suoi poteri, infatti, si scatenano ogniqualvolta si trova in situazioni di forte stress emotivo. In quei momenti, come scopriremo nella schizofrenica serie TV, David diventa una vera e propria bomba pronta a esplodere: gli effetti di questa instabilità sono imprevedibili e investono chiunque si trovi nelle vicinanze.
Dopo tutto Davide è il figlio di Charles Xavier, fondatore e leader degli X-Men che da anni si batte per costruire un mondo in cui umani e mutanti possano convivere pacificamente. I poteri psionici del Professor X sembrano essere "passati" anche nel figlio, con qualche complicazione...
Sotto il nome di Legion, David acquisterà non solo nuovi poteri, ma anche la consapevolezza delle responsabilità che da essi derivano.
