Lilly, piccola, graziosa cagnetta, è stata offerta in dono, in occasione del Natale, dal giovane sposo alla sua giovane moglie. Liily è divenuta in breve la regina della casa. Quando nasce un bimbo, al quale vanno naturalmente le più affettuose premure del genitori, Lilly si sente abbandonata, ripudiata. Per sfuggire al canile, cui è destinata, Lilly non esita ad affrontare la notte oscura e il mondo sconosciuto, e solo l'intervento di Biagio, un cane vagabondo, la salva dal guai. Poi i due cani salvano il neonato da un grave pericolo: per ricompensarli i genitori li accolgono nella casa, dove divengono in breve gli amici più affezionati e devoti del piccino.
