John Wick, ex killer professionista, ha lasciato la mala per sposarsi con Helen, ma dopo pochi anni sua moglie muore di malattia. Al funerale, il suo vecchio collega Marcus gli fa le condoglianze, ma John è sospettoso. Tornato a casa riceve l'ultimo regalo di Helen, un cane che la moglie gli ha lasciato perché abbia subito qualcuno da amare. A una stazione di servizio ha un diverbio con un giovane spregiudicato e invadente, Iosef, che vorrebbe comperare la sua auto, una Mustang d'epoca. Quella notte, Iosef e un amico irrompono a casa di John per fregargli la macchina, malmenandolo e uccidendogli il cane. Quando si riprende dalla pestata, John seppellisce il cane e parte per una vendetta in cui ritroverà a malincuore il vecchio se stesso e i fantasmi del suo passato.[/color]
