Trama :

Anno 2415: quattrocento anni dopo la diffusione di un virus che nel 2011 uccise il 99% della popolazione mondiale. I sopravvissuti furono salvati dall'intervento dello scienziato Trevor Goodchild che riusc? a sviluppare una cura per il virus. Goodchild concentr? i sopravvissuti in una citt? utopica chiamata Bregna. La dinastia Goodchild govern? la citt?-stato per quattrocento anni mentre la natura riprendeva il controllo del pianeta. Sebbene gli abitanti di Bregna sembrino condurre una vita utopica, in realt? molti abitanti soffrono per la forma di governo e sono preoccupati per le misteriose sparizioni. Vi ? infatti un numero allarmante di persone che spariscono senza apparente motivo e gli organi di polizia non fanno nulla per ritrovarle, anzi attuano una politica di controllo ferrea e oppressiva. Per opporsi al potere dei Goodchild nasce nella citt? una fazione avversa chiamata Monican, ?on Flux ? il migliore agente dei Monican.

?on Flux riceve una pillola che consente agli agenti Monican di comunicare tra di loro e con il loro Handler, il capo missione. Handler assegna ad ?on Flux la missione di danneggiare il centro di controllo della polizia. Per via di questa improvvisa missione ?on Flux deve rinunciare a una cena con sua sorella Una, che avrebbe dovuto comunicarle...

Plot :

In 2011, a deadly pathogenic virus has killed 99% of the Earth's population, forcing the survivors to regroup and scatter across the Earth.

404 years later, in late 2415, all of the survivors inhabit Bregna, a walled futuristic city-state, which is ruled by a congress of scientists. Although Bregna is largely an idyllic place in the destroyed Earth, people routinely disappear and the population suffers from bad dreams.

A skilled warrior, named ?on Flux, is a member of the Monicans, an underground rebel organization who communicate through telepathy-enabling technology and are led by the Handler. After a mission to destroy a surveillance station, ?on comes home to find her sister Una has been mistaken for a Monican and killed. When ?on is sent on a mission to kill the government's leader, Trevor Goodchild, she discovers that both she and the Monicans are being manipulated by council members in a secret coup.

?on questions the origins of everyone in Bregna, and in particular, her personal connection to Trevor. Everyone in Bregna is revealed to be a clone, grown from recycled DNA. With the dead constantly being reborn as new individuals and bearing partial memories of...
