Kate ha una malattia incurabile: le restano sei o sette mesi al massimo di vita e il suo desiderio prima di morire è scoprire che c'è vita nell'Universo. Per questo motivo lei e il suo ragazzo decidono di mettersi in viaggio per Groom Lake, una sperduta cittadina nel deserto americano, posizionata vicino ad una base militare e famosa per i presunti avvistamenti di UFO. Una notte, qualcosa aggredisce Kate lasciandole una strana traccia violacea sul corpo. Il referto medico dell'accaduto viene comunicato ai militari, e poco dopo alcuni uomini in tenuta scura rapiscono la giovane. Andy, il suo ragazzo, decide di avventurarsi clandestinamente all'interno della base nel tentativo di liberare Kate e di scoprire cosa si nasconde realmente nella struttura. Segreti militari, presenze extraterrestri, sequestri di persona, una città densa di misteri...
A young woman named Kate is dying. She wants reassurance that there is life elsewhere in the Universe. She and Andy go to the one place that may hold the answers to her questions, Groom Lake (Dreamland). Alien lights have been seen. Alien ships have been sighted. If she could only come into contact with these foreign forces! The bizarre people who inhabit the area also play a role in Kate and Andy's quest.
