Trama
Un aspirante scrittore, per cercare ispirazione, comincia a pedinare le persone, trasformando le loro vite in materiale per lavoro. Tutto va liscio finché egli non incontra Cobb, ladro di professione che, piano piano, gli insegna il mestiere.
La trama si complica quando lo scrittore si invaghisce della vittima di un furto e inizia a frequentarla.

Memento, il film è stato studiato dal regista per essere il più economico possibile: le scene, prima di venire filmate, sono state provate ripetutamente dagli attori, in modo da doverne girare solo un paio, risparmiando sulla pellicola in bianco e nero da 16 mm, la componente più costosa dell'intera produzione, la quale veniva pagata dallo stesso Nolan col suo stipendio.sco Gassman, finalmente libero, come lui stesso ammette, dai vincoli delle caratterizzazioni, dai ghigni classicheggianti, esprime in alcune sequenze la sua dirompente fisicità.
