Star Trek, anche conosciuta come Star Trek - La serie animata, o con gli acronimi ST:TAS e TAS (da Star Trek: The Animated Series, il nome con cui viene indicata in lingua inglese per distinguerla da altre opere con il medesimo titolo), è una serie televisiva di fantascienza a cartoni animati, realizzata dalla Filmation, e composta da 22 episodi trasmessi dal 1973 al 1974. Con maggior precisione, 16 episodi nella prima stagione e 6 nella seconda.
La serie narra dell\'ultimo anno della missione quinquennale comandata dal capitano Kirk, quindi gli avvenimenti descritti si situano cronologicamente tra la serie classica e il primo film di Star Trek.
La Paramount, che aveva acquistato i diritti della serie dalla Desilu, dopo la fine della serie classica aveva deciso di produrre una nuova serie di Star Trek ma, a causa degli elevati costi di produzione, preferì optare per una serie animata. Per espressa volontà di Gene Roddenberry, l\'ideatore della serie originale, si doveva continuare a parlare di Kirk e del suo equipaggio, e così fu. Tutto il cast originale fu impiegato per il doppiaggio, tranne Walter Koenig (Pavel Chekov) - che comunque firmerà la sceneggiatura di un episodio - e Grace Lee Whitney (l\'attendente del capitano, a volte nel doppiaggio italiano definita \"tenente\", Janice Rand) - pare per problemi di budget, anche se in realtà la Whitney era già stata allontanata dalla serie originale per brutte storie di alcol - che furono sostituiti rispettivamente dal tenente Arex e dal tenente M\'Ress, due personaggi dall\'aspetto alieno del tutto nuovi (e non sfruttati certo a dovere).
In questa serie, libera dai costi di produzione di un telefilm, la fantasia di scrittori e sceneggiatori poté sbizzarrirsi all\'inverosimile, con la comparsa di molte nuove specie aliene considerate non convenzionali.
Star Trek: The Animated Series (also known as The Animated Adventures of Gene Roddenberry\'s Star Trek) is an animated science fiction television series set in the Star Trek universe following the Star Trek: The Original Series of the 1960s. The animated series was aired under the name Star Trek, but it has become widely known under this longer name (or abbreviated as ST: TAS or TAS) to differentiate it from the original live action Star Trek. The success in syndication of the original live action series and fan pressure for a Star Trek revival led to The Animated Series from 1973-1974, as the source of new adventures of the Enterprise crew, the next being the live-action feature film 1979\'s Star Trek: The Motion Picture. TAS was the first Star Trek series to win an Emmy Award. The series was produced by Filmation in association with Paramount Television and ran for two seasons from 1973 to 1974 on NBC, airing a total of twenty-two half-hour episodes. An early Filmation proposal for this series had children assigned to each of the senior officers as cadets, including a young Vulcan for Mr. Spock. According to interviews with Norm Prescott, Paramount offered Roddenberry a substantial sum of money to abandon creative control of the project and let Filmation proceed with their \"kiddy space cadet\" idea. Roddenberry refused. Filmation would later develop the idea into its own original live action program, Space Academy, in 1977.
The writers of the animated series used, essentially, the same writers\' guide that was used for the live-action Star Trek: The Original Series. (A copy of the \"series bible\", as revised for TAS, is held in the science fiction research collection at the Samuel Paley Library, Temple University, Philadelphia.)
While the freedom of animation afforded large alien landscapes and believable non-humanoid aliens, budget constraints were a major concern and the animation quality was generally only fair, with very liberal use of stock shots (as was often the case with many of Filmation\'s shows). There were also occasional mistakes, such as characters appearing on screen who were elsewhere, or a character supposed to appear on the bridge\'s main viewing screen, but then appeared in front, indicating bad ordering of animation plates. These were typically isolated errors however. Occasionally, though, parts of episodes would be animated at a near-theatrical quality level.
13 - The Ambergris Element - Pianeta subacqueo

While exploring the water planet Argo, Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock are transformed into water breathers by the planet\'s undersea inhabitants, the Aquans. In order to return to their normal selves, they must enlist the help of the Aquans to capture a giant sur-snake, whose venom holds the antidote.
14 - The Slaver Weapon - L\'arma degli Slavers
Il popolo degli Slavers, scomparso un milione di anni fa, ha lasciato un cubo contenente armi avanzate che la Federazione vuole custodire. 15 - The Eye of the Beholder - Con gli occhi dello spettatore
Una squadra scientifica si è dispersa su un pianeta artificiale. L\'Enterprise deve scoprire cosa sia accaduto e lo fa scendendo nello zoo dove sono rinchiusi altri membri della federazione. Gli esseri che lo popolano sono dotati di intelligenza superiore e osservano le loro menti. La libertà arriverà solo con la comunicazione. L\'episodio riprende i temi già trattati nell\'episodio pilota della serie originaria: Lo zoo di Talos.
The disappearance of a scientific team lures the USS Enterprise to investigate near Lactra VII. The starship Ariel is located there, abandoned, with its captain having transported to the planet\'s surface. The Enterprise crew beams down to discover a series of unusual environments. On the planet the crew meets the Lactrans, a group of twenty foot slugs with intelligent capacities far beyond their own. The team is captured by the Lactrans to be made part of a zoo collection.
16 - The Jihad - Guerra santa
L\'anima di Alar è stata trafugata e per evitare una guerra interplanetaria viene costituita una spedizione di cui fanno parte anche Kirk e Spock. Il pianeta su cui è stata nascosta è attivo geologicamente e serve tutta l\'abilità dei membri per recuperare la preziosa anima.
The USS Enterprise arrives at the Vedala asteroid, where Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock have been summoned to learn about a stolen religious artifact, the \"Soul of the Skorr\", whose theft could ignite a galactic holy war.
Seconda stagione - Season Two
1 - The Pierates of Orion - I pirati di Orione
L\'epidemia che ha colpito l\'equipaggio dell\'Enterprise ha contagiato anche Spock ma per lui il pericolo è mortale a causa del rame presente nel suo plasma sanguigno. Per salvarlo serve la strobolina, una sostanza caduta nelle mani dei pirati di Orione, che hanno saccheggiato la nave federale incaricata del trasporto.
Spock contracts a fatal illness, and the cure can only be found with dangerous Orion pirates.
[b2 - Bem - Il comandante Bem[/b]
Il nuovo arrivato Pandroniano, il comandante Bem vuole unirsi alla spedizione che deve visitare e classificare il pianeta inesplorato su cui vive una popolazione di rettili guidata da una creatura di pura energia che li protegge. Il comportamento del pandroniano mette a repentaglio la missione e la vita dell\'intero drappello.

3 - Albatross - L\'aurora che uccide
Un\'epidemia sterminò centinaia di Dramiani diciannove anni prima, quando il dottor McCoy era in servizio sul pianeta. Ora il dottore è accusato di sterminio di massa e deve essere processato. Dopo millenni di attesa un drago blocca l\'astronave Enterprise: si tratta di Kukul Kan, antico dio Maya che vuole riportare l\'equipaggio della nave agli antichi miti della Terra. Il suo pianeta è colmo di bestie domate e rese innocue dal potere del dio, ma al capitano Kirk la quiete del silenzio senz\'anima non può piacere.
