La trama - The plot
Chissà se Tom Hanks, abituato a correre, a vivere su un\'isola deserta o a trascorrere le sue giornate in un aeroporto, avrebbe mai immaginato di trasformarsi in digitale e impersonare il capotreno del Polar Express? L\'ultimo futuristico progetto di Robert Zemeckis, che vede protagonista l\'attore americano, è un viaggio nel Luna Park del Natale (così ce lo illustra), sovraccarico di effetti speciali,di sali e scendi sulle rotaie, nella più classica tradizione dei rollercoaster. Protagonista di questa avventura in 3D è un ragazzino che, sotto la neve, la vigilia di Natale, sbarra gli occhi e prende al volo il Polar Express, fantasmagorico treno diretto al Polo Nord per incontrare Babbo Natale. Tratto da un libro dello scrittore Van Allsburg, Polar Express fa riferimento alla tradizione anglosassone del Natale, non tanto per le icone nordiche, quanto per la spettacolarizzazione (affascinante la sequenza del treno che scivola sul ghiaccio) e l\'utilizzo del \"musical\" (pensiamo a White Christmas con Bing Crosby) come forma di ibridizzazione. Un esempio è l\'apparizione di Babbo Natale con la moltitudine di folletti, vera immagine da concerto rock da stadio, e la digitalizzazione di Steven Tyler, cantante degli Aerosmith. Il ruolo di maestro di cerimonie è perfetto per Tom Hanks, capace, anche in animazione, di esprimere severità e buoni sentimenti da vero leader, fino a moltiplicarsi in più personaggi. Certamente un prodotto per il pubblico giovanissimo che potrà rivivere la magia della favola di Natale come se fosse a Gardaland, fischiettando allegramente quelle canzoncine da festa sentite migliaia di volte.
Un film furbo? Può anche darsi, ma modernizzare una tradizione è qualcosa che può riuscire solamente a chi ha ancora dentro, a oltre cinquant\'anni, il bambino che c\'è in noi, raccontandoci, con i fuochi d\'artificio, che non bisogna mai smettere di credere e di sognare, perché la fantasia è uno dei motivi per cui vale la pena vivere.
Tom Hanks plays the train conductor of a magical train heading for the North Pole, in addition to five other parts. Based on a storybook written by Chris Van Allsburg, the Christmas story tells of a boy who has reached an age when he begins to have doubts believing in Santa. Late one Christmas Eve, the young boy is lying awake waiting for the sound of sleigh bells ringing from Santa\'s sleigh. Five minutes to midnight his room begins to shake, and he hears a thunderous sound outside his window. The boy jumps from his bed and sees a train in the middle of his street. The boy grabs his robe and rushes out the front door to look at the train. The train\'s conductor asks the boy if he is getting aboard. The boy asks, \"Where are you going?\' \'To the North Pole, of course, this is the Polar Express!\' At the last minute, the boy jumps on the train and finds other young boys and girls going to the North Pole. Their adventure begins. On the train he meets lots of other children, among them a know-it-all, a clever girl and a poor boy. During the trip to the North Pole, there are several complications and complications before the end of the journey comes. Among others, the tracks are covered with ice and a child loses its ticket. When they reach the north pole, the children meet Santa Claus, and the boy gets the very first Christmas present of the year, a sleigh bell from Santa Claus\' sleigh. They return safely to their homes in time for Christmas Day, and the boy finds the Christmas Present from Santa beneath his tree, after which the story concludes.
