Fredrik Kronkvist is known for his vigorous, virtuoso style with a never-ending flow of ideas. The media has often described him as a combination of Cannonball Adderley and John Coltrane, but with a clear own style rooted in be-bop with contemporary references. Kronkvist has with his group the Fredrik Kronkvist Quartet and his extrovert style, powerful and captivating songs, made himself known as one of Europe’s finest alto saxophonists since winning the European International Jazz in Belgium 2003. Fredrik also received the award Newcomer of the Year selected by the Swedish National Radio the same year and was selected as one of ten saxophonists under 30 to participate in the World Saxophone Competition at the London Jazz Festival.
After successfull European tours among others concerts in London and Berlin in 2006 the group went into the studio and recorded their third album with new material inspired from travels to various locations in the world. The album IGNITION was released worldwide in spring 2007 and to this up-coming release of the album Constant Continuum Fredrik has collected some of Sweden, Denmark and Norway’s finest young musicians were the communication in the group constitutes the foundation of Fredrik’s quartet.
