Il film è ambientato nei ruggenti anni '20 quando il Proibizionismo non riesce a fermare il fiume d'alcool che invade gli speakeasy della mala. Chiunque con abbastanza ambizione e nervi saldi ha l'opportunità di ottenere rapidamente potere e denaro e così Joe Coughlin, il figlio di un commissario della Polizia di Boston, da tempo ha voltato le spalle alla sua rigida educazione per diventare un fuorilegge. Però perfino tra i criminali esistono delle regole e Joe infrange la più grande: incrocia il suo cammino con un potente boss, rubandogli soldi e donna. L'incontro finisce in tragedia, conducendo Joe su un percorso di vendetta, ambizione, amore e tradimenti che lo costringe a lasciare Boston per Tampa e i suoi contrabbandieri di rum.
The film is set in the Roaring '20s when Prohibition fails to stop the alcohol River invades the speakeasy bad. Anyone with enough ambition and nerve has the opportunity to quickly get power and money and so Joe Coughlin, the son of a Boston Police Commissioner, has long since turned his back to her strict upbringing to become an outlaw. But even among criminals there are rules and Joe breaks the biggest: crosses his path with a powerful boss, stealing money and women. The meeting ends in tragedy, leading Joe on a path of revenge, ambition, love and betrayal that forced him to leave Boston to Tampa and its rum smugglers.
